Impacts of home energy management systems on electricity consumption

Home energy management systems (HEMS) connect homes to a smart grid and may increase the overall use of renewable by directing demand off-peak hours increasing conservation. However, promised changes in electricity consumption have yet be proven real-life experiments. We therefore analysed consumption, daily profiles, number low high after installing HEMS 10 Finnish households. These were examined context values related each household, which derived from semi-structured interviews. In experiment, we showed that reduced total winter months up 30%, shifted decreased hours. occurred even valued comfort over savings or ecological sustainability. Nevertheless, levels conservation varied greatly between households same homes.
